26K Rear Axle Bump Stop
I was under the motorhome yesterday just looking around. It's a Newmar on a 2018 26,000 pound F-53. I noticed that the distance between the top of the rear axle and the bottom of the bump stop is probably a little less than an inch on both sides. That's with the jacks retracted on a perfectly level site. I just weighed at the CAT and am not overweight on any axle or GVWR. Anybody else have one similar and what kind of clearance do you have?

My 18k Chassis has about 3 1/2" of travel to bump stop:

Check the front axel stops, they are probably less than that. That's the reason people complain about a "jarring ride". The axels hit the bump stops because the springs flatten out quickly on the heaver chassis.

If the axles were constantly crashing into the bump stops, they would be falling apart.
The harsh ride is because the springs are very stiff and don't flex much at all.

Pretty surprised the heavier chassis is around an inch of travel, that's pretty horrible especially compared to my 18k with 3 1/2" travel front and back

That really is not that much travel if you thing about it. Its easy to find out if you are hitting the bump stops. Put children's clay on the top of the spring using tape to try to keep it in place, and take a little ride. See if the clay is still there at the end of the little trip. Ford springs seem to sag very easily.
