4-speed or 5-speed

We have an 02 Georgetown on an F53 with the V-10. I'm confused over whether it's a 5-speed transmission or not.

Starting from rest up to highway cruise speed there are 4 distinct shifts - ergo, 5 speeds, or does the overdrive ratio not count as a "speed"?. If that's the case, is there actually a separate overdrive unit downstream of the transmission?

I am nearly sure the first year of the 5 speed in the F-53 was 2006.

What you may be feeling and counting as a "shift" is the torque converter clutch locking up. When this happens, engine RPM will drop just like when a shift occurs.
