Yes remove it any time you go to a dealer for any work, every time you go to a dealer they run what is called a VIS this tells them if there is any open recalls and if there is they will do it without you knowing it. It might be BS or it could be a reprogram for something.

First, I do apologize for the delay in responding to your question.

MPG is, perhaps, .1 to .2 increased from stock. The shift algorithm is really a noticeable improvement and I noted that from my first use of the install. I do not notice any hard shifts. Firm shifts yes, but nothing that I would consider hard.

If there is anything that is a bit quirky it is while in cruise control and I am in a slight climb (not the 4000 rpm kind), the system hunts for the right gear - quickly shifting up/down between OD and 4th. I define "quickly" as a half a second or so. I can only assume that it is due to the cruise control CM because when I turn off the cruise and manually control the pedal, the hunting stops.

I'm a fan of this tune and 5Star (awesome customer service).

Please allow meto tell you how 5Star helped my Motorhome.

I tried to get the proper number from my vehicle's computer and the numbers just fell off in the floor. They were there and as soon as I touched them, they fell off into the floor leaving the tag attached.

I called Mike and talked to Randy. He told me to simply give them my address and they would send me the programmer. I got it the next day, read my proper numbers, and emailed them to Mike. Within a few hours, he had sent me the proper tune and I had installed it into the programmer and into the coach.

Wow, did it make a difference. We just did a 1,300 mile trip from South Carolina through NC, Va, and WVa, to Cleveland Ohio and back. On the way back we fought severe head and cross winds. We climbed most hills in third gear and only dropped into second gear three or four times when we got behind slow trucks and had to slow down on hills. Of course we ran in third gear quite a bit and down those inclines. I hate that turnpike.

The transmission shifted like my car does and never searched for another gear like it used to do on almost level inclines. It held overdrive on many hills and only dropped into third occasionally unless they were pretty severe or long. We didn't need second gear on any hill 5% or less during the whole trip.

I don't know if mileage changed or not, but I averaged 7.94 for the trip. I used the fill the tank to the top method, so I know exactly how much fuel I used and the miles traveled. I set the cruise for 60 to 62 mph, so I kept it pretty much the same speed except for those darned hills.

Thank you Mike for making my trip very enjoyable. I would recommend this tune to anyone with a Ford V10.

Here's my update on the 5-star tune. Back home after 2100 miles since I uploaded the 87 RV-Tow tune. Very impressed. The throttle control is much lighter and transmission shift points are a dream. I can now drive this motorhome as far in a day as I could my DP. No more outrageous downshifting on small rises at 55 mph.
On the last day before home I drove 645 miles in a day. Before the tune, I was worn out after 400 miles. Much of the driving was without cruise do to traffic or weather conditions. With the lighter throttle feel, I did not have to keep the throttle down all the time and could feather it with better speed control. And of course without the outrageous downshifting, my nerves were not as frayed. I do not scientifically know (too hard to duplicate exact conditions), but antedotally (sic), I feel my mileage has improved some. Primarily from less downshifting on hills and easier on the throttle. Of course, 10 percent improvement would increase mileage by .6 something to .7 something. So don't know for sure, just know I have to fill it up when it nears empty.
