Report back with your thoughts .

I tried to get in on the group buy, but I guess there was'nt enough interest . Hopefully they will try it again after New Year.

I have the 5 star tuning in my 2005 Georgie Boy Landau on the 2004 f53 chassis. On our trips to Biloxi Ms the rv would down shift on small hills. After getting the 5 star tune. replacing the restrictive y connection and putting a flowmaster 50 muffler on, it no longers down shifts on the same hills. Before the tune it would down shift and my scan guage would drop to 3.5 mpg. Now it only drops to 5.5 and no down shift. Mike at 5 star tuning is great to work with. He takes time and answers all questions and never tries to convince you to buy.

I was part of that group buy that didn't happen too! I bought anyway and loaded the 87 octane tow/haul map for the 3v10 Ford engine last week. I have driven the MH about 75 miles and it has made a huge difference. I was shocked at how much quicker it accelerated onto the interstate in tow/haul mode. You really have to have a soft touch on the gas pedal. I would do it again in a heart beat! Oh and Mike at 5 Star Tuning is great to work with!!!!

Had the 5 Star shipped to me in Fl in Feb. Finally got to really try it on our 1500 mile trip back home. Throttle response was much better and a noticeable increase in pick up.

Where the tune really shined was in transmission shifting. It up-shifts earlier when your not heavy on the throttle and it downshifts much later. In my return trip home, I would have to say, conservatively, that the downshifting on grades was reduced 50% - 60% using cruise. There were several grades where it up-shifted before it reached the top (never saw this before).

Using ScanGauge II
After a few hundred miles I left the SG in LOD (Engine Load) and watched when it downshifted. It always did it at 84-85%. I soon learned to tap the coast button as it approached 84%. This prevented the downshift and I would do this as needed to crest the top. Speed lose was usually 3-5 mph but was regained easily on the downside.

On the flats, I really couldn't tell if the MPG was improved, I just know for certain there was no lose in MPG. Because of all the variables, it's always difficult to know for sure or exactly how much MPG was gained or lose. I can say on this trip (3 legs) that my gains indicated were; 0.2MPG, 0.5MPG and 0.4MPG.

I'll guess and say the engine tune does not improve MPG, just improves power a bit, but that coupled with the trans tune is where the increase in MPG comes from. Watching the SG on grades, it gets between 4.9 and 6.2 mpg in 4th. In 3rd, it's 2.9 and 3.4 MPG.

Regardless of any MPG gains, I'm still very pleased with this tune!

Installed my 5 Star Tune yesterday and can't wait to get it on the road to check it out. To much rain to pull it out of the shop, don't want to sink in grass, but should be able to get going in the next few days.

I have nerve damage in my right hip and after 45 minutes to an hour my right leg is hurting so bad I have to stop and get out from under the wheel. By running cruise control I can shift around in the seat and relieve the pressure on the nerves. Before installing the 5 Star tune I could not run cruise control without it down shifting on ever little hill and the rpm going to 4600. On the test drive last week after installing the 5 Star tune on the same hills with cruise control on "if" the trans downshifted the rpm went from 2200 to 2750 and would upshift as soon as I crested the hill. Speed loss was about 2 mph, 62 to 60. There is a noticable increase in power and acceleration.
I am very pleased with the 5 Star tune and am looking forward to our trip to New Mexico next month. Well worth the cost.
