5 Star tuner for 2001 Bounder Ford V10

Am I correct that this tuner (the one for $499) can display the transmission temp in real time?

My 5 Star tuner is on a 2003 F53. As long as the tuner is connected to the OBDII port you can read transmission temp and a number of other information. Intake air temperature, coolant temperature, battery voltage, road speed, and a number of other diagnostics. I leave mine connected when traveling to keep an eye on things. Especially trans temperature as I tow a heavy toad.

I've had a Scan Gauge II in our coach now for several years and find it works very well.

Here's a link to their site: https://www.scangauge.com/products/scangauge-ii/

Good luck & safe travels....

5 star tune

Does the 5 star tune need to be remove for a smog test?
If so how many times can it be reinstalled.
What is the biggest improvement you noticed?
I'm looking for transmission shift improvement.
Is it worth the $500.00?
Thanks

I have a 2001 class C it's worth it for shifting, I would remove for smog.
Shifting is the only thing I notice in improvements might be some power but not much.

Our 2000 coach has passed the Nevada smog test every year without removing the 5 star tune.

I would suggest you have the test with the tune and see what happens, shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck and let us know how the test went..

Myssdragn, thank you for helping answer the OP's question! We appreciate your support on this! I tend to watch many of these parameters but I tend to be a data oriented nut.

Not really a good way to mount the tuner for monitoring. I have, and recommend, a Scan Gauge. Easy to mount and has several functions the tuner doesn't have such as trip.

My 5 Star Tuner is for sale in classifieds if anyone is interested. Traded for an Airstream.

I'll change my signature soon...

The suction cup mount from SCT is a solid option. I've also velcroed quite a few of them to the dash as well. Just food for thought.

I run the tune on a 2004 and the scan gauge. Tune did a good job on helping the shift and fuel flow balls out showed about two gallons per hour more flow so I would assume more power. Remember your driving a heavy box around so a HP or torque increase is noticeable but is not going to make it a corvette feel. The scan by a he is small and can be mounted in front of you for EZ glance without really taking your eyes off the road, reads four things at a time. Mine set for intake air temp(works fine going down the roads but is heated by motor in slow traffic), trans temp, motor temp, and fuel flow(can play with gears under pull for best, lower, fuel flow.
