We have a 2011 Damon Challenger with the Ford V10. We are satisfied with the motor home, but have heard good things about the tune from 5 Star Tuning. Has any Ford motor home owner on this forum purchased this tune, and if so, do you feel that it (the tune) was worth the price and performed as advertised. I know that the tune alters the transmission shift points, and adjusts the engine timing to enhance acceleration and performance, but how about increases in miles per gallon? We tow a Jeep Wrangler which isn't too heavy, but still get terrible gas mileage, in my opinion (around 7 mpg on average).

Thanks in advance. Bronk

Can't say I get any better mileage, but I am very happy with my tune from 5 Star. Proper adjustments achieved by the tune really makes the rig perform the way it should. Before adding it, I would always shift prematurely, and load on the engine according to Scan Gauge would jump to 99% after shifting. Now it hardly ever goes over 80% for average acceleration. Response is much improved, and it is just alot easier to drive. I drive a 35' A, at about 20,000#. I wouldn't be without it. Also, you will be very happy working with Mike. Super guy!

Installed the 5 Star tune with the Banks stinger kit in our 2009 Bounder this pass summer and it is AWESOME. Going over Monteagle, Tn before I would be running maybe 35 mph at the top and turning 4800 rpm's after the tune and stinger kit I went over it at 53 mph and turning about 3200-3400 rpm's and that's with a 4900 lb toad too. As for mileage I went from 5.1-5.3 mpg to 6.1-6.5 mpg. I love the way it takes off now and the feel of the trans, spend the money and do both. What I was told that the newer V10 has like 457 ft tq and with both the tuner and the banks kit that it would put it over 550 ft tq that's = to a 300hp diesel.

I'll have a better feel for mpg after my trip West. As others have stated the shifting and off the line performance is well worth it and added plus is driving is not as tiring. I still run at 62 mph and get about 7.5.

I installed the 5 Star Tuning and am very satisfied with the results achieved in the area of performance. Seems to be a consensus that shift points are greatly improved and acceleration is better. Gas mileage gains are minimal.

IMO the tuning is well worth the price.

7 mpg is probably about average. That' s all we've averaged on the 3 different motorhomes we've owned.

Installed 5 star on my 2011 C. Noticeable difference.
