97 F53: adding fuel pressure gauge.

I plan to add a fuel pressure gauge in the dash. Any suggestions for which gauge to get? Pics of your install location would be great too.

Looks like a nice installation kit.
But why would you require a fuel pressure Gauge.
Just curious!

The stock F53 has only one fuel pump so I have an extra frame mounted fuel pump from the generator fuel line.
I use the dash gauge to check the working of the frame mounted pump before leaving on the main fuel pump.
Also it kind of peace of mind to look down and know the fuel system is working right.

Not sure I understand! You mean that your generator does not have it's own fuel pump?
Are you saying that the fuel pump in the tank runs when the generator is running?
I did not know this. I might have to install another pump for the genset to save the one for the engine.
Could I get the make and model of your add on pump. Even a picture would be nice.

I think subford is a little maintenance OCD like me...plan for for possible issues.
The ford fuel pump is 40 psi, intank. They are known for failing. Mine has been replaced, but not sure if repacements are improved.
The gen fuel line is an inline suction pump, low pressure, separate feed.
If the high pressure intank pump fails, you can add a high pressure inline pump from the gen feed line to the motor. It's a backup that doesn't require an extra intank pump and floorjack to replace.

Thanks but where do i find an inline fuel pump that will supply 40 psi. I have tried to find one before with no luck. Sure would appreciate some help locating one.

I use the Ford inline fuel pump off a 1988 Ford van or Bronco II.

Note I no longer use the fuel strainer as it kept the inline fuel pump from working right.

Any auto parts store counterman worth his salt would be able to point you in the right direction.

Thank you SubFord. I have a cheaper gauge on order. Funds are tight so the Autometer will have to come later. Where did you mount the gauge itself?

The Bronco II pump is on the list of future projects as well.

The auto meter 3363 is pricey, which gauge did you go with?
