97 F53 D-Celerator hook-up

I'm about to connect the controller for a US Gear D-Celerator to my 97 F53 chassis. This requires a battery hot, an ignition hot, a ground, a brake light switch leg and an unused wire from the controller connector to the hitch connector. I've found an open 5 pin connector broken out of a chassis wire bundle in front of the steering column. It has red, white, black, green and blue wires to the pins.

Does anyone know, is this a factory connector provided by Ford just for this purpose? If so, what colors are what functions.

Thanks in advance!

clifftall,

Thanks for tip.

I called and spoke to Mary, who referred me to Carl, who was knowledgable and had the information I needed at his fingertips.

The connector is for an electric trailer brake controller connection provided by Ford. Close enough for my purposes. Carl provided me with the pinout, the wire colors, their functions and their origins.

This, IMHO, is the way to build brand loyalty. They treated me like I had just bought a new rig instead of being the second owner of a twelve year old unit.

I've always been treated the same. I'm glad it worked out for you.

chassis repairs and parts.

I've found if you own a a motorhome with a specific chassis , ford, oshkosh , etc, I get the model # and call a dealer such as freitliner, for oshkosh and get better results. I wound up taking my last motorhome to a shop that repairs semi trucks!!! Cost more but got better results.I used to drive truck , so have many contacts in the city where I live.
