'99 Winnie Slide Constant Power

When we were in Michigan last year I was installing window tint on the top of the front windows and my knee hit the slide switch which was out and the slide started to move. I was standing at the left side of the steering wheel and leaning forward reaching to the top of the windshield.
The key was off and the slide out. The switch is in the panel for the slide and HHW jacks. The jacks are not powered with the key off.
I thought it was not a good idea to have the hydraulic pump running with the key off so I installed another switch before the switch in the panel.
I do realize it is a remote possibility this could be a problem but what my mind was seeing is getting in an accident and having the hydraulic pump running and a broken line spewing oil out. The switch is also not too far away from my left knee when driving.

Slide interlock improperly wired or missing. Did Winnebago not have the key operated slide control lock-out feature back then?
