does anyone know if i can just deflate the tire and loosen the valve stem nut and turn the stem around without breaking the tire down.

Do not know about moving the stem but FYI they make an # 370 air chuck for the aluminum wheels that does make filling easier. Its on the Alcoa site I ordered mine from HalTec.

billyb, there is a pretty good chance you could do that, but you may also break the inter seal. You may cause a slow leak, which could cause a blowout or etc. I suggest you break the tire down and replace the valve stem and be on the safe side.
