Hello All,

I am looking to trade in my class C and move back up to an A again.

The last time I had an "A" it was an Itasca on another manufacturer's chassis and I was very disapointed. We were towed three times in 16 months due to continuing problems with the power parking brake.

Today I am looking at a 32' 2006 Itasca on the Ford F53 chasis.

Are there any well known problems of any kind with the Ford chasis I should know about?

Any history of problems with the parking brake or rotors?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I can only speak for our 2000 coach on the F53 chassis, that with 63k miles no brake or rotor problems. Had brakes checked during transmission service at 58k miles and the service tech said there was 62% left on front pads and 70% on rear.

So far we've been very pleased with the chassis, engine and drive train.

Wow, 58 views and only one comment with no one having knowledge of any inherant issues.

I hope that to means the Ford chassis is reliable and almost bullet proof.

Yes the Ford chassis is reliable, had three v-10 F-53's, just needs the maintenance when called for as any chassis will.
Good luck with quest back to a class A rig.

IMHO, the Ford F-53 is a great chassis. I owned a 2005 Winnebago with the F53 and now have a 2010 Newmar with same and have never had a problem with either. I have heard and read that there was an issue with the V-10 relative to spark plugs breaking off in the head but believe that might have been on older models.

The Ford V-10 is bullet proof. Like the O/P said keep your regular maintenance up and you likely will be very pleased with Ford. In 9 years I had 0 problems with the Ford chassis under an Itasca.

Bought a used 2000 in 06. 12k miles. Caught up on all the service it needed. Did tires, shocks, ect. Four months later we left for Alaska, brought it home this year. Added 15k to it, no problems. Pulled us up a lot of steep grades and back down. Hope to go back next year.
