Just curious what you think about both the powertrain and the chassis.

I have a 2006 31 Itasca with the new 3 valve engine and trans. I had a 2005 minnie with the older powertrain but the new one is smoother, quieter, and more powerful. It also has trans
braking for downhill.

Thanks for the info. I have been surprised there hasnt been more talk about the new chassis and drivetrain. I bet you like the 5 speed tranny, huh? Do you have 19.5 or 22" tires on it? It is the 22K chassis, right?

I bought an 06 Sightseer 29R on the ford 18,000# chassis and I am very pleased with how it runs, rides and pulls. The tow/haul feature works well and is a lot easier to use than trying to down shift. I am keeping my fingers crossed for many years of good reliable service.

RPagington and bigdep, A late welcome to IRV2
Congrats on your new Sightseer, do you have the new 5 speed and upgraded V-10, if you could place your coach info in your sig-profile it will follow you to what ever post you post. Where you register top right hand corner will get you there, place your coach info in the signature block and anything else like a tow for instance. Thanks and welcome to the forums. "007"

My 2006 Itasca is on the #18000 frame with the 19.5 tires. The tranny is smooth and quiet.

yes , loving it every minute I drive it . 2006 THOR Hurricane 30 Q F-53 362 HP V-10 3 valve with 5 speedTOW/HAUL wow what a different that transmission makes on this chassis with that powerful v-10 362 hp.
I have drove the GM vortex and Ford has it beat HANDS DOWN!
When driving down a steep hill with the TOW button it is like having a manual transmission doing all the work for you and that will save you from less brakes jobs also.

I wonder if a 30 footer has the same rear axle ratio as a 36 footer??

My F-250 with the new torq shift and 365 hp only has a 4.10 rear end. My MH rides on a '99 20.5k chassis with 275 hp and 4r100 tranny, but has a 5.3 ratio.

We have a 2005 Sightseer 29R on the 2006 Ford Chassis. I'm very happy with its handling characteristics. I've towed my 3,500 pound boat and my 4,600 car trailer and Subaru with no handling problems.

I especially love the Tow Haul feature on the transmission. It makes slowing down a lot easier when I'm towing. I've also used the Tow Haul feature when coming down mountain passes.

I set the Cruise Control at the speed I want to maintain and engage the Tow Haul feature and the transmission keeps me at my selected speed.

Damon Challenger 2007 V10 F53 18K lbs 19.5" wheels 37'-7" on 22K chassis. I was plesantly surprised that the engine and transmission performed so well with a coach of this size and weight.

I do believe my previous 2006 Super C 8.1L Allison 16klbs MH on 19k chassis preformed slightly better but that could be due to the lighter chassis.

I really like the new Ford 5 speed transmission. It does take a little time to get use to going up and down hills. The transmisson braking is REALLY nice. The power on the V10 is more than adequate.

My usual preference is GM products but the new F53 chassis and drive train are comparable to the 8.1L Allison combo. I still like the Allison trans a little better. Overall, I like the F53 package over the Super C chassis.
