96 wideglide,

did you install them onto the same my rv i mentioned? there is no physical way to mount it in the location per the instruction on my particular coach.

it can and will be done but with some welding and drilling to the lower bracket and moving the entire assy rearward about 5 inches.

crappy part is that Air lift didn't know that their kit will not "bolt in" on an 04 4winds 30q hurricane (mine has an 03 chassis under it). simply put if i can't mount bags, i list this rv for sale....... i bought it 3 weeks ago. so failure is not an option.

Again, sorry for the issue that you ran into and be sure to let us know if you run into anything else once you get it all installed.

well, i got the wheels off tonight. i will install it tomorrow. gonna clean the frame up before i final fit everything after drilling all of the holes in the frame. if you want i can send you pics of how the rear portion of the lower bracket was modified. i think a common bracket could be made to fit the Hurricanes as well, as whatever other coaches it fits now.

as well, the air bag ends up almost right over the axle now.

randy,

if you could send over the pictures from chelsea, i would like to verify fitment before i order the front kit. i hope not to have any surprises when i install it.

well it took about 9 hours, between taking care of the kids and working on the rv.

moved both front and rear sway bars (mckinley mod)

due to making the lower bracket a completely customized one, and drilling all holes, and drilling holes for the rear portion of the lower flange, well lets just say it took alot longer than planned.

i aslo took the time to wire wheel the frame, and then throw some mat black rust paint over it. i painted the welded portion of the lower bracket as well. anti-seized everything

a couple of things about the air lift kit - first that i couldn't get the one carriage bracket over the 2 lower bolts.. secondly, there is no way i could run the air lines to the rear license plate. the line is way too short for that.

again thanks to all about the tips and tricks. there are definitely alot of thoughtful and condsiderate folks

i actually have a picture of the finished product. what i do like is how the bag is actually about half way over the axle!

the rv is now perfectly level and i can't wait to drive it tomorrow. family is going for a short day trip to ohio. so it will be nce to see how she does all around!

as well if the weather is good next weekend, i will be ready to tow my car to the track with the RV vs. the Ram (i can't wait!!!!)

Glad to hear ya got it done !

Little late to get back to ya, but no, not the same coach, but a F53 is a F53. I had to grind off some metal 'tabbing' that National RV had welded to the frame, right where the upper air bag mounts, were designed to go. Other than that, it was drill two holes per side, just like they said would be needed.

One other thing. I just mounted the schrader valves on the wall in the basment compartment right in front of the rear axle. The outside power outlet is right above it, for plugging in the compressor .

Not quite true. The 16/18K have different axles than the 20/22K ones. And the ride height changed by 2.4" in '04, which was driven/allowed for by the frame rail size change aft of the axle.

Is the Airlift kit in question for an '04 or '03? That could cause some problems.
