Good day everyone,
Our 2002 Damon Challenger built on the subject chassis has a brake problem. The Chassis was built in April 2001 and the coach added in October 2001 - we turn delivery in Nov 2001
In April 05, at 49000 km (about 30,000 miles) the rotors were turned and brake pads installed.
Brakes are checked (and serviced at teh same time) annually as part of our MVI and fluid is changed bi-annually
This spring at about 82000 km (approx 49,000 miles) I noted that the front rotors have great holes in their surfaces even though the pads look good. Of course, corrosion is the problem.
I have not looked at the rear rotors yet.
If the rotors can not be turned again, I am looking at new rotors, pads and maybe calipers.
Is there anyone besides Ford that provides these parts? Or is it wise to just give a dealer his pound of flesh and stay with Ford parts.
We leave home in NS in Nov/Dec and return home from the south in April and since the brakes were done in 2005 we have not driven through road salt. When parked in our yard, I move the rig every couple of weeks to make sure the pads do not stick to the rotors
In any case I am looking at about $2000 plus for a repair job so I want to make sure that I get value for money.
Your thoughts on parts providers please.
Thanks
Preston
ps by the way, my ABS light is permanently on, all of the sensors are working properly and the Ford computer tells me to replace the box (which I own as soon as it is ordered whether or not it fixes the problem). That is another $700 investment that should be made
