Change my speedo?

Does anyone know if I can change the speedometer/odometer to read in kilometers per hour, ie full metric? Happy to convert the odometer to show the correct current distance (about 55000 miles). Cost if possible?

FYI
Motorhomes built for sale in Canada, generally have the speedo and odometers in metric, so they do exist.

Wasnt there a 'button pushing' method of changing the speedo? Seems a couple of peeps on here had that issue when they just happen to hit the button combo by mistake.

Imagine my suprise when I look on the main forum page and to the right it says " Recent Discussions" where it reads "Change my Speedo". After reading the post I thought conversations was going to go in a whole other direction! Maybe thats just because I am new to RV's.

There's a couple sellers on eBay that sell instrument clusters and will "adjust the mileage to match your odometer reading" before shipping the unit to you.

Unfortunately some unscrupulous folks aren't very careful at reading their current mileage, so the replacement unit arrives with much less miles showing than their vehicle really has on it.

Conversion

At least in the USA almost all speedometers are calibrated in MPH and KPH. The KPH is usually smaller font. For the Odometer simply multiply miles by 1.6 to get kilometers.
I've also taped a strip on a KPH speedometer and multiplied by .6 to get MPH OR multiply each digit by 1.6 on a MPH speedometer to get KPH.
You can even do this with a tachometer. In top gear record speed and RPM at each 5/10 @ MPH/KPH and then transfer onto the tach.
COST $0.00!!

My Mirada already has the dual units on the speedo face, but the main divisions are all imperial, and of course the odometer reads in miles which doesn't match all of distances on the road signs or maps. I am a Maths teacher so I know the conversion formulae (grin) but it is much easier to have one scale that reads the units I want. I am not interested in paying a fortune for the new unit, but I would be happy to change over if I can.

The down & dirty method is to just pick up an older cheap GPS unit and stick it in the window set to the "dashboard" page, i.e it reds speed and compass bearing. Then just use it for your speedo and odometer.

Yes, but the odometer reads in miles - and the kilometer scale is much smaller without specific divisions.
