Chassis year
I’ve read several post that say something to the effect of “ I have a 2017 rig on a 2016 chassis”.
The year of the coach is easy, but how do I determine if the chassis is the same year or if it was built the previous year?
Thanks

I found mine in the manuals/paperwork. I recently puchased a 2019 entegra Vision 29S and the chassis paperwork indicated a 2018 Chassis.

Sean-
The 10th digit of the Ford VIN will tell you the chassis model year. The Ford VIN guides are at this link. The key to the 10th digit is on the right-hand side of the second page.

Usually called a split model year. Special rules apply when registering them. The RVIA website used to have a page on it.
You do need to know the chassis build date to get the right parts.

chassis year
ours is the opposite. for 3 yrs I was trying to find a air filter for our 92 Itasca with a 5.9 Cummins. someone on here said to try looking for the filter for a 94 Chassis..i did and found some right away>
so we have a 92 Itasca body sitting on a 94 Osh Kosh Chassis?

Thanks for the link to the Ford guide but now I’m more confused.
The VIN guide says it’s a 2018 chassis ( 10 th digit is a J) but the big yellow sticker (Federal Certification Tag) on the inside of the coach says it was manufactured 07/17.
Maybe it’s a terminology thing, manufactured date vs model year.

Years ago the new model year started in September (09/xx). I've seen many new model years come out in February (02/xx). Seems the vehicle manufacturers are always trying to get the jump on the competition.
The 10th digit is the model year. The emission sticker will also state what model year it conforms to.

Sean-
If memory serves, Ford starts building a model year on the first of July. So, your build date of 7/2017 is consistent with the chassis being a 2018 model year, which is what the VIN is telling you.

I work at a Ford plant. We usually change model years starting sometime in July.
Think of it this way. New model year cars usually come out in October, so they have to be built before that. 2019 model years came out in October 2018, etc.

Don't think that is possible.

Does your VIN confirm you have a 94 chassis? I doubt an air filter is a valid indicator of chassis model year.
