Water? Have you done this? Wouldn't a stretched belt slip even more? Or are you thinking the water may make it grab temporarily.

All the OP is trying to figure out is where the chirp is coming from. When stuff is put on the belt like, belt dressing, water, wax, grease, (not recommended) etc, etc, it changes the surface friction which may temporarily stop the noise which tells the OP that is where the chirp is located. If the noise does not stop then it might be a bearing.

I learned many years ago not to use belt dressing. Makes a big mess and hard to get off, might as well buy a new belt because you will be after using belt dressing.
