This link will give you the specs and features of the new V10 engine.Ford 6.8L Specs, Ford 6.8 Engine Specs, Ford Engine Specs, Ford V10 Engine Specs - Large Ford Truck Dealer, specializing in commercial trucks.

The Ford 460 is a tried and true Engine the fuel injection made a big improvement over the old models that were prone to vapor lock and poping back. Had ford for over 50 years and not going to change now.

I had a 1998 Winnie I bought new with a 460 in it. I lived in it from 2001 until I bought my current coach in Dec 2007. I was very happy with it and had no problems. I did add a Banks system to it because I have a heavy foot and am not one to go 45-50 mph up a hill.

I have friends with the V-10 since 2000 and are equally satisfied. I believe that '98 I had was about the last of the V-8 460 and since then they are all the V-10s. I'm sure the mechanical guys know much, much more about that than I do.

How much did the banks really help. what kind of $$$$ does it cost? is 45-50 what you can look forward too? I guess I'm one of those slower ones. My wife and I will be looking at the Terra, 34L or something like that. I know it a Terra and we did like the floor plan, any thoughts on this one, bill

I'd be a do some serious research before deciding whether or not to install a Banks system. We looked into it for our 01 Winnebago Adventurer and decided against it. The thought of 50+ more horsepower was appealing until I did some research on the transmission. It seems the 4R100 was only rated for input torque of 450 ft lbs. The factory stock engine puts out 425 ft lbs, and the Banks system supposedly raises it another 69 ft. lbs. That raises the total potential input torque to 494 ft.lbs. which is 44 ft. lbs beyond the rated capacity of the transmission.

I'm sure the newer transmissions are rated for more torque since the stock 30 valve engine (2006 to present) puts out 362 hp as compared to 325 hp for the 2000 -2005 V 10's.

As a side note several people we travel with have the banks system on their coaches. Everyone seems to feel there is some improvement in hill climbing ability, but no one seems to be getting any better milage. When I asked each person individually if they would spend money to do it again when they bought their next coach 90% said they would probably spend the $3,000.00 on other amenities and stick with the stock drietrain.

In 1999 In paid about $2300 for the complete Banks system with the trans command. This was for the 460. It helped significantly in power, especially big hills and mountain driving. As for fuel mileage, I really don't know if it helped much there but I didn't get it for better mileage. I doubt I would put the system on a V-10 from all I have read and heard.

Newer motorhomes with the Ford F-53 chassis come with the Triton V-10 6.8L engine. I don't believe you have another engine choice with the F-53.
