I have an 09 Holiday Rambler Admiral 30 ft on a Ford chassis. I noticed the other day that the cruise control did not work. The dash light does not even go on when the ON button is pushed. I checked the fuse, which from the owners book looks to be the same fuse for the brake and the fuse looks OK and the brake lights do go on. Any ideas on where to look next.

The dash light comes on when you press the "set" button after you turn on cruise control with the "On" button.

You need to clarify a little further: Does the cruise not work when you push set while traveling or are you just not seeing the dash light when you turn it on? If you are just concerned with no light when you press on....as ChasA stated, it will only come on when you press set while traveling. If you are saying the cruise function just doesn't work, there are other issues.

There is usually a minimum speed before cruise will 'set' but don't know what it is on the F53.

Speeds over 25 mph should set the CC. On your brake arm you may have a switch that brake arm operates when brake peddle is in rest position. On the Workhorse chassis this switch can be adjusted by removing the wire connection and turning plunger out so brake pedal when released will push plunger in to connect the contacts.
This same switch also operates the steps to retrack them if you forgot to switch step lock off.

Thanks for the replys. I'm parked right now in a site, but next time I move I will double check. I believe I had turned the cruise on, and then hit set, and then the cruise did not maintain the speed. It was after that that I noticed no indicator light. Jim

I just had this problem with my 2005 Winnebago Sightseer with a V10 engine. Turned out that the problem was a defective servo control unit, and they are not cheap to replace. If this turns out to be your problem as well, try to find a used servo from a junk yard. I did -- found one for $75 using the internet. Considering that the local Ford dealer wanted over $600 for the repair, I saved quite a lot of money. (By the way, replacing it is easy.)

I got a chance to drive the motor home this weekend. At first the cruise control did not work while driving after turning it on and pushing the "set" button. I tried it several times with no results, then in desperation I started pushing other buttons. When I pushed the "coast" button the indicator light when on and it started maintaining speed. After that it seemed to work fine, and in fact it would coast also. Who knows?? Must be a computer thing. Thanks again for your input.

I have a 2004 Monaco Monarch and the Cruise light on the dash never comes on. The cruise control will work intermittently. Sometimes I'll turn it on and hit the set button and nothing happens. Other times I turn it on and hit set and it holds the speed. I took the casing around the steering wheel apart and checked for loose connections - nothing found. Could this be the servo? If so, where might it be located?

Just an FYI, the OP asked about an 09 Ford chassis. There is no servo motor for cruise control on a 2006 and newer with the computer controled throttle body. The cruise is purely a function of the PCM and some input switches, not an external module pulling a cable like on older units.
