X's 2 on posts # 13 & 14. The Ford V-10 is a great engine with a long positive history. They don't get much better for the job they are expected to do.

If you're thinking of asking?? No I don't work for Ford.

First time our 99 V10 did that, I thought the engine had lost ignition & shut down. Rest of that hill was a struggle to get to the top. Taught me something though, computers still cant do what a human can.
As far as RPM on the V10, the old 460 V8 powered class a we had before, it seen many times it was at 4500 to 5000 RPMs pulling up a hill & never had a problem from it. The V10 having 10 pistons jumping up & down just sounds like its working harder.

You have to remember that the 8 pistons in the 460 were larger than to 10 pistons in the smaller cubic inch V10.

Thats right, just like the kids today, racing 4 wheelers, get so mad when that 68mm piston in that 20 something year old Honda TRX250R 2 stroke engine, out runs that new 86mm piston 450 4 stroke engine in their brand new quad, that they have spent close to $7,000.00 dollars on to make it go fast & win races.
