Dash Air blower motor

The dash air blower on my 97 F53 has been intermittent and now it has just quit. There is power to the connections when the unit is switched on. As near as I can figure it is a brush or brush holder problem as the unit is clean and the bearings are still tight. It is riveted together, though, and the brushes are not serviceable.

There is no information on the blower assembly but the plenum is identified as a Specific Climate Systems unit. I can find no distributor with parts for these units. Blower motors for other similar systems look compatable but I can't tell for sure from just the pictures.

Any help out there? Thanks in advance.

You could pull the old blower and motor and visit your auto parts store... Worst case, they do not have a matching replacement

If the "Cage" is the same size, the fins are pointed the same way and the mounting flange is the same and the holes in the same places, and the electrical connections either pig-tails (Universal) or the same,, You are in business.

THe size of the motor, is determined by the size of the cage.

Also you might try your local auto salvage yard for a match up.

The blower motor is fixed. Did it myself instead of taking the time to visit auto parts stored to match it for a compatible unit.

Had to drill out light gauge rivets to get it apart. Inside was fairly clean, brushes like new, bearings tight. The problem was that the lead from the negative brush was riveted to the sheet metal frame with a light gauge rivet. The paint around the punched rivet hole had not removed and the rivet itself was not tight resulting in a poor electrical connection.

Removed the paint around the hole down to bare metal and reattached the lead with a screw, lockwasher and nut. Problem solved.
