Daytime running lights

I have a 2012 Ford F53 and the daytime running lights have not work since I got the motorhome. Its says it on the sticker that they are included.
Is there away to turn them on or off? Don't know where to look for the problem.
Can anyone point me in the right direction ? Just might be something simple.
Thanks
Joe

They should turn on when the MH is in "D" and the parking brake is released.

On some early model F53s (2000 - 2004) your couldn't turn them off. anytime the ignition was ON the DRLs were ON.

A lot of owners don't want daytime running lights. Most pull the fuse. You will find the fuse just over the radiator under the hood. It is a Ford fuse block. Open the cover and you will probably find the DRL daytime running lights fuse missing.

All fuses good, there must be a DRL relay or resistor somewhere that I'm not seeing.

Why would you not want DRL?? People can see you so much easier.

Sue46,

Some people figure that lights on requires electricity, the alternator has to do work to generate it, that puts a load on the engine, thereby decreasing fuel mileage.

All of that is true, but the mileage increase from turning them off is hotly debated. There simply is no good data. Given that most motorhomes drive way fewer miles than our cars it doesn't make sense in my book!

Regards,

Randy

If you research DRL,s you will find that there is no difference in safety with or without DRL,s. The research was done by the Government. They concluded that DRL,s use millions of gallons of gas over the nation with no good result. I am just the messenger, please don't accuse me of trying to kill women and children.

Hmmmm. I thought to myself, this can't be right. So I went to check it out. The facts are that they reduced accidents of various types by 5 to 23%. You can view it for yourself http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/Pubs/809760.pdf

In Canada they are mandatory and I, personally, am glad they are. In addition to the headlights, I would also like to see the tail lights on also. I can see absolutely NO Downside to DRL's.

Regardless, the only thing DRL requirement on all vehicles just made riding a motorcycle that much riskier. The bureaucrat lamebrainlessness is always working overtime and most usually not providing positive results.

One more thing, all the lights in the world won't fix stupid, but maybe, with any luck, there will be a slight improvement.

I do not understand this statement, as motorcycle accident reduction was the 23% referred to in the NTSB report.

Joe ; to try and get the thread back on track, a question .
Have you had the coach since new?
If the fuses are good and you aren't the first owner, then there's a chance a PO disconnected the DRL module or relay. If no-one chimes in with an actual location of the module , maybe a trip to a Ford parts department would yield a picture of ( or a look at ) a module to aid your search.
