E450 - move driver's seat back 3 inches

The drivers seat doesn't have enough leg room for me & might be a purchase stopper. It looks like there is cab room on some Class Cs.

Is there room underneath to move the seat anchor bolts back 3"?

Has anyone done that?

Thanks.

Dave

It has been done but the problem is you'll violate your warranty should you have a problem or more important, a collision. If you're going to do this, you MUST be sure you've anchored the seat equal to or better than it was done during assembly. This will also affect the seat belt position on the "B" pillar, it may be too far forward once you move the seat.

Caswell, I'm 6'2 and 240. Whatever floorplan you are considering, if there is a slide directly behind the driver seat, bring it in and then see how far back the seat will go. Mine is as far back as the slide wall will allow. With the power seat, I raise it to gain leg room and drive comfortably. The transition from driving to go to the back is where I would like to gain some room. Ford makes a slimline console that I am looking into. Stop by a Uhaul and look at the center console in their E350 E450. Also nor-calvans.com

Very cool Gary. Thanks for the info. I found the cover you mentioned. Might help lots of folks.

With the standard Engine Cover Console the distance from seat to engine
console measures about 3 inches (left).

With the Slim-line Engine Cover Console the distance from seat to engine
console measures about 6 inches (right).

The slim-line engine cover console can be ordered from your local Ford dealer. The Ford part number is # F7UZ-15115A00-AAD. Note: this item is only available in Flint (gray).

Updating, just replaced the original console with this slimline console. The extra room is nice. They are here if you're interested. $119 plus shipping through tascaparts.com but shipped from vpartsinc.com.

At 6 5 space is important looked at several class c but none had enough legroom the bulkhead behind the drivers seat would let you move the seat back ended up with a Winnebago 29 R
