E450 Spare Tire Mounting
Just downsized from Monaco Class A 33 ft to a new Jayco Class C Greyhawk 26Y. Didn't come with a spare tire, so building one up to install. I appreciate some guys opinion to not bother with carrying a spare, but I prefer to have one. Has anyone mounted one? Some of the attaching type carriers seem flimsey. The tire is standard 225x75R16 with E rating mounted on a Ford E450 wheel 16x6 with 8 lug 6.5 spacing.I'm also looking at underneath mounting. Just brainstorming for other installation suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
Paul

Mounted one under the E450 based Vegas. Fits nicely. Some have placed a 2*6 across the frame distal to the hitch. Others inserted a 24" 2*2 metal tube into the rear of the hitch (with bolt for side to side insurance)and that works. I did both. 3000 miles later just fine.

My GS Conquest stored underneath, triangular hinged rack, but for this old man, needs a WINCH, TOO; it was a 60-90-min job for me :-( (5-min for the service guy :-)

My 2000 Gulfstream has a spare held up with a hindged, triangle frame, behind the gas tank.
A threaded rod holds the movable end, used to drop it, but looks real rusty. The spare has been there since new.

2003 gulfstream here same type of carrier, not too bad to get it up and down. I was thinking of adapting something like my f250 pickup uses, small cable winch with a drill attachment, would still need to crawl under to position the tire
