Question ECM power off

i assume when i kill the power to the chassis the computer for motor and transmission go back to factory settings, my question is how long for the system to relearn my driving habits for optimum use

Per a conversation with Chris at 5 Star Tuning this date, regarding the PCM, he said it retains it's memory even with ignition OFF as well as when disconnecting and changing out the chassis battery.

Hope this helps

Good luck & safe travels...

When the PCM is turned off with the key it retains what it has learned. If all power is removed from the PCM it will lose all stored data.

The PCM does not learn anyone's driving habits. It learns certain engine and transmission operating characteristics, but it does not learn anything about the way it is driven.

Learning is a continuous process over the life of the vehicle. After the memory has been cleared, such as by removing the battery, it will go into a fast learn mode for a short time to populate the memory as quickly as it can.
