We are installing a Banks System on our 1999 Winnebago (V10). There is no place on the headers to hook up the EGR. Can the EGR be eliminated without causing problems?

Your question can probably be best answered by a Ford mechanic, we installed the Banks on our 2000 which didn't have an EGR valve.

Banks should have headers for the left bank with place for the EGR valve, have you checked with them for the correct header for your year model coach with the EGR valve?

Good luck

My V-8 Banks kit had a tube fitting on the left header for the EGR pipe. Not sure about the V-10 kit but it might have a metal tube/fitting that runs from the header to the EGR valve.

Camping4fun: you are exactly right, I am human, I looked at the wrong header (passenger side). I am not hooking up the egr, after talking to some friends who race and do auto work. They convinced me that I might get better performance without it. I keeping every thing just in case I have to reinstall it later.

The only bad thing about leaving it off is you will set a trouble code and this will turn on the check engine light.

EGR, exhaust gas recirculation is not a bad thing, it just takes some of the spent exhaust gasses and re-burns them in the engine. The problem with removing the EGR valve is the PCM is programmed to operate with the valve in place. Running without it can cause the fuel system to run overly rich or lean. As someone else mentioned the check engine light will always be on so when something really does go wrong you will not know about it until it's too late.
If you have the correct Banks exhaust mani I would recommend to use it.

Your friends don't have much clue. The EGR is not only an emissions device but also an economy device. If it recirculated exhaust gasses at full power, then it would sap power, but it doesn't do that.

Most motorhomes use the v10 engines with the PI heads and with PI heads the engine won't have a EGR valve. Non PI head engines and that's what you have uses a EGR valve. Look at your intake manifold on the top right rear see if you have a block off plate, if so this is a EGR port opening that Ford used on some V10 engines. If you have the plate just remove it and install the EGR valve there and you'll be ok if not you can have a custom tune done to remove it from the ECM system. Give mike at 5Star Tuning a call and see if he can do one for you, he has a sell going on right now for $379.00. There is so much more then just the EGR in that system.
