I was driving up a very long climb using the tow/haul on the Ford V-10 engine in my 2008 Fleetwood Terra LX. It was doing fine then suddenly I hear this high pitch kind sound, more like a warning sound or something. So I take my foot off the gas and it stops. I put my foot back on the gas and no sound for a couple of minutes, then it does it again. This went on and off for a while until I was back into regular drive mode. The RPMs were never above 4 - 4.5k. Anyone else have this happen, and what is it? Made me very nervous!

MY 2008 Bounder does the same thing when accelerating using Tow Haul. I believe what we are hearing is the hydraulic pump on the brake system.

A call to Ford may get an answer for you. 800-444-3311. Please let us know what they say if you do.

The only V10 I've run was in a roll-back tow truck, but I do recall getting a high-pitch sound when the fan clutch would engage, and it would continue until it cut out again.

If you have the radio on it could be alternator whine . Good quality automotive radios have circuits to minimize this but as the engine (And thus the alternator) run either faster or slower... It can get past said filters.

I have that issue with ONE of the many radios in my rig.

Had the same issue with my rear view camera. Took a while to realize that was the source of the noise.
