I'm debating between the Banks system or Gibson exhaust setups. Both come with full length headers which I heard is an improvement on the 460 engines. I'm hoping to gain some HP/TQ while allowing the engine to run cooler with the increased flow. Any preference between the two?

Since you haven't received any response to your post, I'll throw in my 2 cents worth.

Both the Banks and Gibson should provide the results you want. I believe the Gibson would probably be a bit less expensive.

Should you install a set of headers it's equally important to upgrade your exhaust & tail pipe to one of at least 3.5" in diameter.

You should also install a performance muffler such as a Dynomax, Flowmaster, Magnaflow or Brazels Ultra Power.

Additionally if your engine requires a catalytic converter it should also be upgraded to a performance cat that allows maximum exhaust flow.

Good luck with your upgrade project and be sure to let us know how it works out.

Thanks for the reply Jim. The Gibson setup is a complete exhaust system from the headers to the tip. It's a bit cheaper as well so I probably will go that route. I am lucky to not have a cat on the RV. I've seen other options like the over/underdrive for the tranny but I can't see spending that kind of money on something that will take me years to see a savings. I still have a couple years before retiring from the military so we will mostly be making short trips for our use.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Gibson system. Folks I've met during our travels who've installed headers and a free flow exhaust system on their 460's tell me it really wakes the engine up and they run cooler. Not sure on increased fuel mileage but if you get it, that's just icing on the cake.

Best of luckk,
