Ford F53 chassis with 460 engine.
I was troubleshooting the lack of dash vent activations which turned out to be the ole lack of vacuum. This was easily corrected by reconnecting the hose on the vacuum cannister under the hood. The compressor still does not click in even though the gage shows full refrigerant, but that's another problem.
While I was looking in the engine compartment, I found two large (5/8 to 3/4 inch or so) hoses with one end of each disconnected. The first is connected to a port on top of the oil filler tube. It runs across the engine toward the front of the engine and just ends near the alternator. The loose end does not look to have ever had a clamp on it.
The second starts on the passenger side at the top of the engine above the valve cover on what looks to be some sort of multilevel valve. One level has a hose that runs down the passenger side of the engine and disappears. The second level has a similar hose running toward the rear of the engine. The hose to nowhere is on the top level and is just sorta wrapped around the top rear of the engine. The loose end looks like it has had a hose clamp on it at one time.
There does not seem to be any vacuum or pressure on either hose with the engine running at idle. They are both dry, with no fluid evident, which leads me to believe they are for air movement somewhere. Any thought as to what these may be for and whether they are needed. They have been there at least for a couple years and maybe since before I bought the M/H.
