Does the 2000 F-53 4R100 transmission have a sensor for fluid temperature? If so, how is the Scan Gauge II programmed to indicate transmission fluid temperature?

Hi Earl, Yes it does, we also have a 2000 v10 with the 4R100 tranny. We bought a SG II back in December 2006. Later, Linear Logic came out with a updated SG II which includes the X Gauge that can be programmed for more read-outs.

I had to send mine back to Linear Logic for reprogramming at a cost of $25.00.

Depending on when you bought your SG II it may or may not have the upgrade.

If it has the upgrade, you still need to enter the codes into the unit to get the additional data read-outs.

Go to this site: ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool

Click on the "x-Gauge" at the top right on the web page and you can get more information on the x-gauge and it's features.

If you're not sure whether you have an upgraded gauge, call the folks at Linear Logic as they're extremely helpful in answering any and all questions you may have.

Best of luck, Jim

Same as Jim - I sent my SG back and had it reprogrammed.
My (4) displayed gauges are:
Tranny Temp
Water Temp
RPM's
MPG

Now - I'd love to tape a little reminder to my dash -
Does anyone know what safe operating temp ranges are for the water & tranny???

My water temp usually hangs around 191 however occasionally when outside temp is high, and/or climbing a steep grade it gets up to about 207 or so. Tranny temp usually around 170/5 but again, when climbing steep grades it gets up around 215 or so for a brief period of time.

Thanks for the information. Was able to program the x-gauge feature for several added gauges including tranny fluid temperature, fuel pressure and others. I really like the SGII x-gauge feature.

On my ScanGauge, the 4 that I monitor are the:
Cylinder Head Temp,
Tranny Temp,
MPG,
HP
I think the cylinder head temp is more realistic than the water temp as what the engine is doing concerning heat. Yes, it runs a little higher, but you know first hand how hot the engine really is. Occasionally, I read the air intake temp to compare it with my dash outside air temp gauge. I enjoy monitoring it while driving. It gives me piece of mind……......

Where is the connection point for scangage on a 2004 Brave? I think I would like to install one on mine.

TN Bill, it just plugs into the obd port on the side of your steering column. Very easy to install on my 2002 F53. I read water temp, trans temp, mpg, hp. about twenty more available.

TN Bill, like Wizard said it's easy to plug in once you find it, mine was way up on the right hand side of my steering column, took a bit of hunting on my part--LOL

I'm a little worried after reading this post. I have a "new to me" 1999 Brave, and I purchased the Scangauge also. While my factory temp gauge reads in the bottom 1/3 of the gauge, the Scangauge show 210, and up to 224 climbing long grades.

I'm going to have o place the code in for the trans temp, to see what's going on there.

Fingers.... crossed...

Joe, when you cite 210-224, are you referring to your engine coolant temperature? Do you have the upgraded Scan Gauge, and if so do you have the code for the transmission fluid temperature (TFT), if not here it is:

TXD code: C410F1221674 RXF code: 046205160674 RXD code: 3010 and the last, MTH code: 000100080000

Good luck, Jim

Scan Gauge is about the handiest gadget I have ever used. I switch it between vehicles depending on what I'm driving but it's always in the MH. Bought a couple extra cables to do this easily. I usually monitor Speed, MPG, Wat. Temp & Tranny Temp. (had the unit upgraded for X gauge functions). I like the trip functions also and use the scan function to look at trouble codes.

My water temp usually in the 190's and tranny temp runs 170.

Jim,

I was stating my engine temp. I have a new Scangauge. Thanks for the code for the Trans temp. I'll try adding that. I'd be curious what the trans temp is.

I am curious about the engine temp, but I won't hijack the thread. Seems like some people run cooler, and some run the same temp as me. Perhaps I should try a new thermostat.

I do love the Scangauge. I received mine a couple of weeks ago from Amazon. My didn't work correctly, but a quick call to Linear-Logic, with a very pleasant lady, and they shipped a replacement, priority mail, and with a return label. Very, very satisfied with Linear-Logic, and the Scangauge.
