Anyone out there know where I can find a 75 gal. tank that came on the F-53 chassis. Its off a 96 National Tropi-Cal. Unit has been sitting for a while. Tank is trashed on the inside (rust). Ford is telling me this is a discontinued item. Not having any luck at the salvage yards here in Denver. Tried that "Transfer Flow" place in CA and they don't do RV tanks anymore.

Any ideas/help would be greately appreciated!!

Thanks

I used to have all the prints for the V10 tanks. There were some small differences. I can't imagine the 460 tank was too much different.

One place that might have something is Michigan Truck Parts (here in Michigan, on Ford Road). I got a 55 gallon E450 tank for my 1977 Class C there. They had a few to pick from. They were essentially brand new. From Ford test vehicles. Might be worth a phone call.

You might try www.gas-tank.com. They claim to repair rusted tanks. A friend had this done years ago on his 'Cuda with satisfactory results. Fortunately, I have never had this problem. Also there are custom tank manufacturers who will make a tank. Report back how you fixed the problem and the cost.

Thanks

So far not much luck.

"Transfer Flow" stopped working on coach tanks several years ago.

"Michigan Truck Parts" only deals in diesel tanks.

So, in short, I am still looking for a soulution!

Last year in Vintage Truck Magazine one of the restorers that does articles about how to restore old trucks did an article on a company that he uses to save rusted tanks. There is quite a process to do it correctley, and if not done correctley the coating will not last long. My old brain fails to provide any more info, but if you contact the editor, they may get you the name.

Many years ago I had and old rusted fuel tank and I bought some stuff you poured in an empty dry tank and then rotated the tank and the liquid coated the whole inside the tank. When done the inside had like a black rubber type coating. It worked well. You'll have to search online as I have no idea what it was called. Seems like I bought it at the auto parts store, it's been a lot of years ago.

I drove my 83 Itasca (80 gal tank) over to "Lake Havasu city" and had Brian make up a new tank for $600.00 plus $300.00 for R&R....
The new tank is now 82 gallon and ALL aluminum which shaved off about 80-90 pounds of weight that hangs over the rear axel...
Fuel products phone # is (928) 680-6610.

I like the idea of having a fabricator, metal or fiberglass, do a new tank. I have measured my 75 gal tank and it came out 99 gallons so it could be there is an expansion factor there. My brother-in-law made one for his pickup truck in my garage, he was about 19 years old at the time, so it isn't too tough a job. Do mount an electric fuel pump external tho.

I think all of the 75 Gal tanks when measured come out to about 100 Gal.
I know mine does.
