f-53 trac bar

2000 fleetwood flair/30'/v-10/f-53
Am planning on taking measurements for a home made trac bar-on the p-30 I mounted it to the bottom of the u-bolts but it looks like I can use the cover bolts on rear of housing-QUESTIONS: will them bolts take the strain of a trac bar
and I would like a longer length-OPEN for suggestions-Rich

f-53 Trac bar

Still looking for a homemade rear trac bar for a F-53 -My 2000 flair has bolts on the back of the rear end pumpkin-I am not sure if these small bolts will hold the side load of a Trac Bar-I'd like to see one that was home built OEMY's all are mounted on the front of the rear end-Thanks Rich

I have found that looking at manufacturers pic's of what they have done to be helpfull in any DIY project. It appears that SuperSteer and Blue Ox have both chosen to use the sway bar mounts on the axle as the attachment point of the Trac Bar for the 14K to 18K chassis. You might look at their install pict's and instructions for your project. There is a reason for their choice, I am guessing it is because the small bolts holding the cover are too small for the force that they might encounter.

That's where my trac bar attaches.

I bought a Blue Ox trac bar at the National RV rally last Sept for my 97 Winne F 53. It's a little pricey ($575) but was cheaper then buying on line. It's attached to the swap bar mount but the unit comes with bigger bolts for the sway bar. Come first part of January - find out if it was worth the money. The DW and I are headed to Florida for a couple months from here in cold & snowy south western PA !
By the way Subford - looks like you need new bushings on your sway bar. Go with the poly ones.

F-53 trac bar

2000 Fleetwood Flair/30'/V-10/F-53
Thanks Guys -I'll be crawling under MH this week and see if the sway bar mounts will make it easier to mount trac bar-Never thought of the sway bar bolts for mounting-They should be stronger than the ones on rear end cover-Rich
