F53 22k vs 24k and tire size...

I haven't been able to test drive/ride in any yet, but was hoping to get some pros/cons by those who have --

Is there much of a ride quality difference between the F53 22,000 Chassis with 19.5" tires vs. 24,000 with 22.5" tires? Or are they pretty much the same feel?

Thanks!

Prior to having a Workhorse with the 22.5 tires didn't think there would be much difference with the 19's I had on Fords I had.
The difference was like night and day may have been because of different chassis but may have been because of the different foot print of the 22.5's.
The new Ford F-53's have the 22.5's on their chassis now so maybe that will answer your question.
I would now like to compare the ride of new Fords with my now Workhorse, bet there is a difference with 22.5 on the new Ford designed chassis for RV's.

I saw the 19.5" tires in the specs for the Winnebago Sightseer (specifically the 33c model....). Looks like it has an option for the bigger chassis/tires as well.....

I have the 22K chassis under my 2011 Coachmen Mirada and it came with 19.5s. There was never any mention of any optional tire size when I ordered it. If there was, I probably would have gone with the larger tire.

When the chassis are ordered by the coach manufacture some chassis have an option for wheel size. My 2007 National RV Seabreeze LX has 22.5 wheels, the standard Seabreeze model had 19.5 inch wheels. Some coach designs do not have room for the larger wheel and tires.

Same here, had a 2000 33' Windsport with 22.5 tires and now 2008 35' windsport with 22.5 tires. For the weight with shocks only rides great.

The 20,500 chassis and below has 19.5 wheels and tires.
The 24k chassis and above has 22.5.

The 22k chassis is available either way but the wheels and tires are NOT interchangable.

Usually if the coach builder has a model that uses 20.5 and 22k depending on options and weight, they get the 19.5 wheels on both. If they have a model that comes on 22 and 24k they will opt for the 22.5 on both.

The 22.5 wheel version is more expensive and comes with the aluminum wheels. There is no difference in capacity for the 22k chassis either way.

go6car, Absolutely not. 22.5" tires ride so much better and I would rercommend that if you have a choice go with the 22.5" tires.

How can a 22k chassis be 'uprated' to 26k by anyone other than Ford in original design? They are different chassis with many different components. 19.5 tires and wheels cannot meet the load requirements for the Ford 26k chassis. 22k is pretty near thier limit and a reason they are not offered on 24 and 26k chassis.

Can you post a photo of the tag you are speaking of and perhaps others here can help figure out what you actually have.

The 07 Daybreak has GCWR of 26K. This is the Max. load and anything you are pulling behind the coach.
