have a 1992 f53 460/e4od expolice swat truck that iv been doing a rv conversion for the past few years, will eventually dump the e4od infavor of a built up c6,, wondering if a 4x4 c6 would bolt up to the parking brake? i posted on several boards but no one seems to know,if not i will eliminate that driveshaft brake and use a 2wd c6 case and use a line lock brake setup, i'll get a c6 in there no matter what, i have a spare c6/460 ecm,,also converting the hydro boost brakes to vaccum assist would be neat, i eliminated my intank fuel pump to a two pump external setup, also the 75 gallon steel tamk was replaced with a polythelene 45 gallon,,,, theres a reason racers never build up the e4od

I take it you are going to race the RV when you are done and do not care about MPG.
A E4OD is a computer controlled C6 with OD.
Just looking at drawings I would say the parking brake should bolt to a C6 4X4 OK but not 100% sure.
If you find out let me know as I want to pick up a spare 95+ E4OD for my RV.

ooo... close..
Having a 4 speed instead of 3 would be cool... Would have to change the differential gears, but I like.

what the e4od will gain over the c6 is of coarse the mpg, but what you'll save in gas will gone when it comes to repairing the e4od,, the relibility of the c6 can't be matched, its the toughest/bulletproof trans Ford came out with you can ask any trans expert ,, no diodes no solenoids no ecm, no tcc convertors slip(common failure) ,no mlps contact failure, no 4 gallons of fluid lol,, sure the e4od can be built but they are finiky,, thanks but i plan on keeping the 92 e4od as back up and try building up with the 95+ up frontpump/centersupprt upgrades that came out or use it for parts as i have also a 96-e350 econoline sitting in the yard with a toasted e4od,,visit 460ford.com pretty neat site,,, thanks again

I am 99% sure the 4x4 case pattern and the 2WD F-450 case is the same.
I have had the parking brake off of my 89 F-450 but it was years ago and i didn't measure it.
And no I woun't take it off just to measure it now.
Glad you know what you are in for going to a non-OD trans. on hills it wouldn't matter as you wouldn't be in overdive anyway.

yes the f53 case is indeed a 4x4 case just that the parking brake is bolted on to where the transfercase would bolt up on a real 4x4.,c6 uses standard bolts,e4od metric, wonder if the c6 ever came with that driveshaft parking brake,,,,, iv rebuilt replaced every steel brake line/rubber line, and rebuilt each caliper using napas caliper kit #(1966), if the serpentine belt goes out on a rv with hydroboost brakes iv heard sometime the accumulator? back up is not enough for a painc stop? in a vaccum assist system i feel its a safer option, talked to a guy who tows cars for a living he hates hydoboost says vaccum assist is the way to go,

Hmm.. thought it would have been a no-brainer as the C6 is more desirable...It is a 2x4 tranny though..
Yes, it would have to be rebuilt to be tougher, but the cost of that would prolly not be as bad as you think compared to the increase in gas prices coming. Even a 3 mpg improvement would be enough for me.

Yes I bet the C6 did have a F-450 brake on it. the F-450 came out in 1988 as the F-Superduty. the E4OD came out in 1990. before that the C6 was it.
