Installed Steer-Safe on the front axle about 3 months after I got it. I did the labor part in less than an hour. It made a world of difference with sway during cross winds and passing semis on the freeway. You still feel it a little but it's not white knuckle driving now; I can relax and enjoy the scenery. After a turn, the steering wheel snaps back to center faster now.

Never tested the SS claim that the mh will track straight during a front end blowout and never want to either.

Tmar10,
Purchased the trac bar from Brazel's. I installed it myself; took about and hour. Only special tool is a torque wrench. This trac bar stabilized the ride dramatically. Eliminated the need to counter steer in gusty cross-winds or when passing or being passed by a truck. I just inspected it about a month ago (before we headed South) and all was torqued to specs and the bushings looked new. I think it is an addition well worth the money and dirty hands. Danny

i was just curious whether your chassis has the front track bar on it as most '06 and newer have one on the front. our 08 seems to track great, but before we took delivery of it ,i was thinking i might have to put one on it after i got it, but glad i don't nned it.

My chassis is pre-track bar. I think I've decided that before my next long trip I will install the Davis TruTrack on the front and investigate the possibility of a bar for the rear.

I have a tag axle that seems to help stabilize the rear pretty well

My new fds koni shock my the ride much quieter and softer. I had new bilstiens has shockes, but the were to stiff and made the front end bounce over every bump.

Aluminum wheels, less un-sprung weight. Allot rounder than the steel wheels. About half the weight. Rides pretty smooth. Added air bags front and rear.

Front and rear trac-bars, Monroe RV shocks, Saf-T-Steer. But the front end is still stiff with bad pounding over some concrete surfaces. The 19" Goodyear 670's are 75# in front and rear as per the weight of the motor home.

The track bars really helped in cross winds and when the 18-wheelers blow by....

Bilstein's made a big difference in rock and roll from side to side and improved the ride.

I started with saftyplus in the front and it helped when the trucks went past. Then i got the kohns on the front. It was the best 300.00 dollars I have spent. It rides so much better I think this year I will get them for the rear. I agree with most on this site . Do one thing at a time and then go on a long trip before you drop more money into your coach. I did one in o7 and one in 08.

Try replacing the front shocks with Koni FSD's, you should realize a significant reduction in the pounding. I also had Monroe HD gas magnum shocks on our front suspension which were definitely better than the OEM shocks for ride improvement.

However after installation of the Koni's the pounding was virtually eliminated and now it's a pleasure to drive. I know they're expensive, but for me it was well worth the cost.

Best of luck and safe travels, Jim

cheap handling fix.

first time on this forum. I have a 2000 f53 chassis under a itasca sunflyer. i
looked at my torsion bar and the links seem to be different than what you describe. The links have a loop on each end where they attach to the frame and the same loop on the end that attaches to the torsion bar. The torsion bar has two holes. one for the bolt that attaches the link and the other for a keeper piece that supports the other end of the bolt that attaches tthe link. there are only two bushings for each link, one on each end. i have not tried to move the link to the other hole in the torsion bar , but it does not appear to be long enough to reach. I just recently bought the MH and have no idea what has been done to it, but all bushings are green and do not appear to be worn . My torsion bar is 1.5 inches in dia. is it possible i have a different torsion bar and link assembly?
thanks DONDENTON
