The coolant tank on my 2002 F53 has cracked from, apparently, UV exposure. Other than a Ford dealer, any suggestions where to get a replacement?

Go to Autozone. That's where I got mine. They are pretty generic. Nothing special about them.

I don't think Autozone has the type that could be used on the F53. Not generic like a car.

I have seen patch kits for plastic radiator end tanks, that might work. If the tank is too bad to try to fix you might try a large auto parts store chain, I think Dorman makes some replacement Ford coolant tanks.

I'm telling you that I have a 94 Southwind with an F 53 chassis. Coolant tank is square, and has a square wire holder. Mine cracked, and I bought a replacement at Autozone. Exact replacement. Don't know what else to tell you.

I'm telling you its NOT the same. This is a PRESSURIZED tank. There is no filler cap on the radiator, hence the fluid is added thru the tank. This is a V10, and you're talking about the 460 I think.

Jimary, I had thought of that, but its really brittle. Probably crumble when I go to remove it.

Just a guess. But what about a Junk Yard? Is this an RV part or a Ford truck part? It is part of the chassis. Should be another V10 Chassis out there with the same setup. Or you may have to get it from Ford.

Sorry. Didn't look at your year/model info at bottom of your post. My Bad. jonelsr has a good idea with the junkyard.

Did you ever find a source for the tank? Mine is about to go and Google has no clue.

We had the same problem not being able to find it.. went to Ford with the vin# , sticker with the F-350 on it,, he marked thru that and put F53 on the paper.. said that if I need a part to refer to it as an F53. He couldn't find it by a description so we took the old one off, it had a hole in it and looked as if it had rubbed on the frame, and we got one overnite for $87. The dealers aren't cheap but sometimes it is just as easy to pay a little extra and get one without the headache of searching with no positive results. JC Whitney didn't have it either... they carry a lot of stuff for older vehicles and even RV's
Our 'check engine' light stays on ,,so guess we are going to have to break down and take it in somewhere to get that figured out.. so far no problems that we can see for now. Any suggestions?
