4gone:
What speed does the noise start and does it go away other than letting off the gas? Mine would start at about 45 - 50 mph and continue to 70 mph or so.
I picked up the unit this afternoon after FORD rebuilt differentail for the second time and drove home in the rain, so hard to determine if it is fixed, I still heard some whine, but it seems to be starting at a higher speed than before. Will report back next week as we are driving about 600 miles to Texas and will know if it is better or not.

There should be no noise if set up right. If you are having the work done under warranty keep on them until it's fixed to your satisfaction.

Just completed 600 mile trip to Texas and the noise form the drive line is different but still there. It begins at a little higher speed but is still whining, now does it slightly when engine braking as well.
Dealer said that was as good as they could make it. Not sure what to do now? I am still not satisifed with the amount of noise from the differential. Any suggestions for following up with Ford and getting to a higher level than the dealer?

Google "Drive Line Specialists" for your area zip code or look in the yellow pages. A place that specializes in drive lines should know more than a dealer that does everything.

Try contacting American Axle, they are the company that builds the Dana axles. Maybe they are aware of the problem and can point you in the right direction. Maybe everyone with units still under warranty should contact American Axle and flood them with complaints, that may get a response... Or not.

Finally got through to Ford and their Customer Relations Department has made arrangements for me to go to a different dealer with a 200 mile drive. They will not agree to replace the differential until they inspect again. So guess I will do this but after the new year. Living in the MH at the present time.
