F53 front brake rotors

I have a 2000 F53 chasis with about 60K miles. Though out its history I have had issues with brake rotor wobble causing brake pedal vibration when appling brakes. I have had the rotors turned twice and the problem soon returns. I would like to install new front rotors and pads.

Anybody have any quality aftermarket brands that do not have this problem?
Or, should I just go back with a set of new OEM rotors?
Any suggestions on where to buy?

Roger

Roger,
I think you should check your bearings and spindles (axles), and the bearing races within the hub. Due to the way disc brakes work, some runout (wobble) is needed to push the caliper pistons back into their cylinders slightly so that the pads do not drag on the rotors. If you have excessive runout, it could cause the problem you describe. Excessive runout could be caused by bad bearings/races, a worn or bent spindle, or improper installation of the hub. In other words, look beyond the rotors.
Another thought: If you have ABS, it could be a malfunction in the ABS.

ChasA,
Thanks for the response. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that if the root cause was bearings/spindles, the problem would not have gone away after turning the rotors. After turning the rotors, it was fine for some time, then eventually the wobble returned.

Do you use a torque wrench on your lug nuts? Improper torque is the primary reason for a rotor to warp. After turning, no matter what, they will warp again because the material removed in turning results in uneven thickness so that when they get hot again, the heat dissipates unevenly.

In 40 years and literally millions of miles, I have only had 2 sets of rotors or drums warp. Both times because I got lazy & did not check the torque after tire service.

I also use anti-seize compound on the studs & hub to keep corrosion from freezing the wheel on. It also helps hold the torque on the lug nuts. Really great when having to change a flat on the roadside as things turn smoothly. Never use grease, anti seize compound is formulated for this purpose.
