F53 Steering Wheel
How do you take off the Steering Wheel on a 1999 F53. Has Horn in centre and Cruise buttons.
Have they a main spline so it can not be repositioned in a different position.

Take a look at this. It does have splines, but you may not have to remove it

If it helps, the turn signal module on the 99 F53 can be changed out/removed without pulling the steering wheel.

I watched a tech remove the wheel on my 2013 F53. 4 bolts hold on the horn assembly (deep socket from below) then a single spline bolt. The spline is non adjustable. If the wheel angle needs to be changed, you have to loosen the bottom spline where the shaft enters the steering box.

This is incorrect .The splines on the steering wheel will fit on the shaft any where .But there are usually stamp marks that you can line up . The removal procedure is correct . What I am wondering is why are you removing the steering wheel ?

The 1999 F53 chassis doesn't have a main spline on the steering shaft. The steering wheel can be removed and reinstalled at any position. Ford has a bulletin
QVM Bulletin No. Q-59:
F53 MOTOR HOME CHASSIS CLEAR VISION AND ALIGNMENT POLICY CHANGE
This bulletin explains how to remove and reinstall the steering wheel after an alignment.
On Edit: When I originally opened this thread there were no responses shown. After creating and submitting a response several previously written responses appeared. I tried to delete the post, but for some reason cannot. I guess you'll have to live with another response duplicating all the others.

My wheel has a "keyed spline" which only fits at one position. I understand that older F53 chassis had a regular spline. In my case the wheel was removed to re-center it after a steering alignment on the toe in and castor angle left the wheel off center.

The latest generation F53 does have a keyed steering wheel. I believe it started about 2011, but could be a couple years earlier.

The splined u-joint at the top of the steering box is not keyed, so can be removed and reinstalled at any angle, in order to center the steering wheel.
