I have a 2008 f53 with 235 xrv 80 22.5" Michelin tires. My tire guy told me that this tire is only mfg. by Michelin and Bridgestone who is owned by Michelin. Subsequently they are almost twice the price of another size and sometimes difficult to get cause they are frequently back ordered.
Can you safely put a 255 70 on ? They are 1" less in diameter and 1" wider.
Fleetwood referred me to Ford and Ford has yet to get back to me. I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with this.
Thanks
Cliff

You need to investigate throughly. The 1" smaller diameter will make your speedometer inaccurate and the 1" wider could definitely cause problems on your duelies... there is a minimum space required between the tires.

You can have the speedo reset to read accurately at most good tire shops. Their scanner will allow resetting the "revs" which is the measurement of one revolution of your new tire. You get the measurement by marking the tire & ground at the ground then rolling till the mark hits the ground again & mark ground; measure between marks and that's your input value. Might be a nominal charge for the shop time. This is done all the time when boys get big diameter tires for their vehicles so they feel like they are playing Hot Wheels again.

Although not recommended, I ran a motorhome for more than 3 years on too fat tires. The previous owner evidently wanted wider tires and had these put on. The duellies were in full contact at the bottom of the tires without a problem with them rubbing.

Bridgestone and Michelin are still 2 companies.
One is headquarted in Japan, the other in France.
Bridgestone and Firestone merged in NZ to one compamy.

Don't play with tire size to save a few bucks. The chassis is designed to ride on a specific width and diameter tire. If you search the market you should be able to find this tire for about $285.00 each as I did. The highest quote I got was $360.00 each. Also check the date codes before you buy.

I think the only concern I would have would be contact of the duels and I thought minimum dual spacing was available from the tire manufacture.

And a tire is intended to ride on a certqin size rim. There can be dire consequences if they are not matched. Be careful.
