Ford Torq-shift transmission problem

I have a 2008 Dolphin 34 ft with a Ford torq-shift 5 speed transmission, when I go down a long hill the transmission gears down but when I get back to level the transmission will not gear back up to high gear again, I`ve had to pull over and shut down the engine to get going again, RV has only 5000 miles on it, anyone have this problem, thanks Rich.

Could it be the button on the shift lever is still in the Tow-Haul mode? Not all that familiar with later model 5R110 transmissions, but on our 4R100 4 speed when you depress the button on the shift lever it locks it out of Overdrive.

Not sure if it works the same on your 5 speed. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you.

Good luck & safe travels

Not normal, I have the same transmission in my tow rig/camper hauler. It will delay upshifts after a downgrade but it uses all 5 gears as needed in both normal mode and tow/haul.

Check for a faulty transmission fluid temperature sensor. In other words, connect your rig's OBD-2 socket to a code reader, and it will tell you if the sensor is bad. In my case on our business van, the faulty sensor locked out shifting, it was a quick and only slightly expensive fix at the Ford dealership. You can get the codes read at most auto parts stores for free.
