Ours is located on the left upper front of firewall.

Good luck and safe travels....

Just a question: Why do you want to fill the reservoir? Are you leaking fluid, did you bleed the brakes? Is there some other reason you've lost fluid from the system? If you haven't done one of those things you may be headed for trouble. The F53 has disc brakes. Disc brakes "store" brake fluid in the calipers as the brake pads wear. If you fill the reservoir to the full mark when the brake pads are not new the "excess" b fluid may squirt out of the reservoir when the brakes are replaced. This is one of those situations were "If it ain't broke don't fix it" is the rule to live buy. Please don't ask how I know this!

I seem to recall reading somewhere about opening the bleeder screws when pushing back the pistons so you're not fighting a check valve in the caliper. Is this an obsolete situation nowadays?

Obsolete. With disk brakes, check valves are a thing of the past.

The master cylinder brake fluid level shouldn't be topped of as brake pads wear.

The engineeres designed the reservoir to drop to the low fluid mark, and set the BRAKE warning light, when the pads are worn down to the point of replacing, if no leaks.

If you keep topping off the fluid, you could wear the pads down to rotor ruining metal on metal.

Of course that all goes out the window in lightly used MHs since Ford recommends frushing and replacing the fluid every 2 years on class A motor home chassis.

My is on the driver side, outside front access area.
I have very little space to work but it is what it is.

Make sure you put the proper brake fluid in. I do believe that cap for the reservoir will have the correct brake fluid list.
