Check the 10th digit of the Ford VIN.

X = 1999
Y = 2000

Rockauto.com sells a spark plug repair kit. I keep one just in case. Look on their web site for your F53 1999. Their are videos on Google. Just screw it in. Easy.

not an original plug. I checked our log and found the plug blew at 77,930-miles on the odometer. the plugs, including the one that blew, were replaced at 73,656-miles. we no longer have that MH and I don't recall the inspection/replacement schedule for the plugs but we followed the Ford recommended service intervals. our garage is very good in keeping on top of scheduled maintenance and keeping the MH in good condition.

For every V10 that had a spark plug issue, countless thousands did not. Steel plug threads in an aluminum head, very short threads, if not replaced with care it can cause problems. How many plugs were not hand started in the head? How many not tightened to specified torque? Yes, it was under-designed, Ford made it better when the issue turned up. I wouldn't shy away from a vehicle for this flaw, especially since it can be remedied.
