Ford V10 Programmer

Looking for people who have tried the SCT X3 Programmer on the Ford V10 to see if it works like they say.

Welcome to the Forum!

I purchased mine this spring, it works as advertised. My MH still downshifts out of OD on overpasses, but not nearly as often as it did before the tune. I have heard that there is another tune for the V10 that will keep it from downshifting at all, but I have not got any information on it.

I have one and it works great. It almost eliminates the "screaming second" with the engine pulling 4,500rpm on steep hills. You can read everything you want to know about it and then some in this thread:

Have the 5 star as well, worth double what they charge for it, probably the best mod/upgrade available.

Just call 5 Star Tune and speak to Mike, or his associate. I have used it on two V10's and it is all positive.

I have had mine for 4 years now. I used a scan gauge used to go down to 3.5 mpg and down shift out of overdrive. but after the 5 star tune it will drop to 5.5. Now on steeper hills it will still down shift and it goes back to 3.5.
If I buy another gas rv I will put in ion that one too.

When you get the 5 star tuner, is it just for your V10 or could you tune someone elses V10 with it, set their computer.

It is specifically for your V10 and you have to get the number off the box on the firewall. I think they can change it if you switch vehicles.

The hardware tuner is universal. The software "tune" that it loads is customized for one vehicle only. You can buy additional tunes from Mike at about $100 each.

So that being said, you couldnt pay someone that has a tuner, to set your computer on your M/H rather than buying a unit yourself.

I suppose you could, but the tuner does other things too, like resetting the tune to factory if you have to take the MH to a Ford dealer. It also reads out and resets OBDII codes.

No, it won't work. The way it works is that the tune you buy is for your specific unit numbers (there may be others with the same numbers). Once you load the Tune to the vehicle the only thing you can do with it is return it to stock with the SCT. If you were to trade vehicles you would have to return it to stock, before letting it go. Then you would have to contact 5 Star and get a new Tune for the new vehicle.

I used it to tell me what the check engine light on my Saturn was saying, and it did tell me I had to change the 2nd oxygen sender.
