Has anybody else done the sway bar end link Z bracket install per the TSB? What a PITA. I have an angle drill and I still can't get in there to drill the holes in the frame for the upper bracket.

somekevinguy...Maybe you can post some photos so some of the "engineer-type" members can see exactly what you are dealing with - they can then make some suggestions.

somekevinguy,

I assume you are trying to drill the holes from the outside of the frame towards the center.

Have you tried mocking up the 'z-bracket' with a bolt and some washers in the original hole, working on the inside of the frame and drilling towards the outside? This may give you more room to work, although you may have to move some wiring/brake lines/fuel lines/etc. out of the way (but this will also allow you to miss those items when drilling, thereby avoiding damage to them).

You may not need not have the brackets perfectly vertical either, they are just there to add some stiffening to the sway bar links.

Lane

Actually I am trying to do it from the inside. On my rig the links are actually on the inside of the frame and there is another piece of C channel bolted to the frame which boxes in the frame and the links bolt to that. I was almost thinking of going through the trouble of unbolting them and pulling them out to drill them.

Kevin,

Ok, thanks for the explanation. I was going by the drawing in the TSB and thought yours would be identical.

Good luck with your install.

Lane
