Fuel Filter Change

I have been trying to replace my fuel filter. I have tried several of the tools to release the fittings but the tool will not fit between the line fitting & the filter body.

The filter has been replaced at a shop before and I'm wondering if somehow they pushed the lines on too far leaving insufficient room for the tool to be inserted.

Any suggestions before I cut the filter body from the nipples? I am a former mechanic ( 20 years ago ) & am familiar with the safety concerns, etc. involved.

Thanks

If they pushed it on to far, even after you cut off the filter body the tool probably wont reach in far enough to release the line. Can you pull the line away from the body at all?

A long stem version and a short stem version of the filter was made. If the short stem is installed where a long stem should be the tools wont fit. Sometimes the plastic tool can be cut in half and worked in or you may need to cut the fuel filter stems close to the filter and then use the tool to remove the stems. I have seen this too often but one of these methods should work.

gene2, auto hit the nail on the head, did you check my response in the other forum where you posted your problem? What you described indicates the wrong filter with the short stem was installed by your shop.
