Hello to all, I have winnebago 35ft ford v10,mods that i have, headers gibson, free flow exhaust, 4 inch intake,k&n air filter,5 star tunner, all have given a boost in power ,average 7 to 9 mpg.On the interstate overpasses after the mods ,running 55-60mph most of the time it want down shift unlees strong head winds.I done the mods one at time, the one that i could tell that made difference was the 4inch intake, all others nothing.my question has anyone tried gear venders ,its expensive mod.looking for better hill climbing. MY gross wt with tow is 22.500.

I put GV on my 97 GMC 2500 454 with a 5 sp manual when it had 100,000. Drove it for another 150,000 and loved it. I lived in CO and most of my miles were mountains. I am not familiar with them on a automatic but if I went back to a 5th wheel I would do it again

I agree with Highcountry! Great product. I've had many in my Dodge 1tons. The extra gears really allow you to keep the RPM's in the sweet spot while climbing, and the extra top end really helped my fuel consumption on the flats.

Hi George and

Sorry, but your post is kind of hard to follow. Are you saying you want it to downshift going over freeway overpasses? Most of us don't want the tranny downshifting at every little hill.

The V10 is designed with a very wide RPM operating range and with all the modifications you've done it should be putting out substantial power so I'm surprised that you are still looking for more hill-pulling power. If it is mainly a problem that it won't downshift when you need it to, you should contact 5-Star to see if they can adjust the shift points in the tuner. Maybe that is all you need.

If not, then maybe you need a 400HP diesel pusher.
