Hey all, I have a 96 HR 34.5' tag. Shocks are worn, I was sitting at the red light the other day and a compact Toyata flew buy and the coach moved from the wind!! I looked over at my wife and said if that had been a diesel we would be in the next lane!

After reading a few posts I think it's time for a change, initially we were looking for a DP but that does not seem to be in the cards right now.

There is a Steersafe on the front already, although someone suggested getting the Davis TRU-Track.

Buy the Koni FSD's for the front, Bilstiens for the drive axle, but what to get for the tag?? Dealers say no specific one is called out in the book. Can someone with a tag help?

Have CW install a Banks PowerPack.

Lastly since it looks as if we are gonna keep "Ugly Betty" for now a full paint has got to be done. I know we'll never get that cash back but at least she'll look as good on the exterior as she does inside!

We were quoted 10K for a full body paint job.

Total cost of upgrades about 15k YIKES!!

Wished my car would sell!! Then it would be a DP.

Should I do all the repairs and live with what we have or wait it out until I can afford a newer (to me DP, maybe 98-99)

I'll listen to any advice right now.

Frustrated in Elk Grove!

Only you can make that decision. I can say that if it were me I would not put that kind of money in a coach of that age. I would rather put that money towards something newer. Good luck in whatever you decide.

We just bought our '94 Southwind for less than your upgrades. Of course, by the time we get all our upgrades done and replace old tires we'll probably have enough in it that we could have bought your DP! This feels a lot like our boat... a never ending string of expenses. And like our boat, a never ending string of adventures and fun.

HR built solid coaches back in the 90's, if it's in good shape structurally and mechanically and it adequately fills your needs better $10k on a paint job than many years payments on a new or newer $80 to $100k + coach.

Go for it and enjoy. Best of luck and keep us posted on your upgrades.

P.S. We're keeping our 10 year old coach we bought new, still in great shape & satisfies all our needs.

Thanks for the feedback, Well we have been doing a lot of shopping. I do plan on getting her painted, but not quite for 10k I am looking at around 6500-7000. which is better. So it looks like we will do the banks, new shocks & the paint work for right now.

I'll post some before and after pics once we get going.

Sounds great, folks with the 460 I've met during our travels who installed the banks system say it really wakes up the 460, and some said it runs cooler. I think you'll be happy with the Koni FSD's as we have them on our coach and love em.

Looking forward to seeing the pic's.
