I got a P0503, p0720, p0722, replaced speed sensors. Symptoms is after the coach warms up and when the coach stop for about 30 seconds, when we accelerate the coach feels like the brake are on and then it releases. we get a flashing OD and wont shift out of first correctly, the coach then sets above codes. Believe it is either ECM or PCM problem looking for information. Coach has been in Vegas for the last 2 weeks with no end in site.

My guess, remove the banks trans command and go back to OEM, see what happens.

I don't do Fords but "Reset to factory default" is a standard diagnosis method.
Now.. I had good service at Wheeler's RV, though I've read several complaints (And I do have one of my own but that is with the parts dept, not service) it's now Las Vegas RV and a Camping world store. There is also Saraha RV off Saraha at I-15 and several other dealers.

Call Quality Ford 702 507-1500 here in Vegas, they're the Heavy Duty Ford equipment maintenance facility and work on motor homes. I have them do all the service on ours, good folks. Perhaps they can give you some help with your problem.
On further research, the 503 code involves the speed sensor and the 720 & 722 code involves the output shaft speed sensor with both sensors sending data to the PCM (power train control module)
Good Luck, Jim

nope, I have it at a place called Auto Safety House been very helpful and honest, they have been in touch with Ford and are still waiting for info from them. I believe this is the classic ABS ground issue or a PCM now

Well I sure hope you get your coach fixed without too much trouble and expense. Do you have a toad where you can get around OK? I hope so as our public transportation system isn't the greatest except out on the strip.
Wish you the best, and let us know when it's fixed and what it was if you don't mind.
Jim

they disconnected the the ABS system and the MH ran perfect no errors code and shifting normally. The issue is no part available from ford so they are having to make it. Hope to get coach back soon.

Do a search I think Ford back then had a recall to correct a ground problem that was related to the trans, etc. Worse comes to worse just drive it with the ABS disconnected you are probably not going to be driving on ice etc. so ABS is a none issue.

Could this be it ?:
TSB 02-11-3
* ELECTRICAL - VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL (VSS) INPUT NOTICED WHEN TESTING WITH NEW GENERATION STAR TESTER (NGS) WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED - SUPER DUTY F-53 MOTORHOME CHASSIS VEHICLES BUILT 1/2/1998 THROUGH 7/31/2000
* TRANSMISSION - 4R100 - TRANSMISSION STARTS OUT IN 2ND GEAR - ERRATIC 1-2 UPSHIFT OR ERRATIC 2-1 DOWNSHIFT FROM TRANSMISSION - SUPER DUTY F-53 MOTORHOME CHASSIS VEHICLES BUILT 1/2/1998 THROUGH 7/31/2000
Publication Date: MAY 28, 2002 FORD:1999-2000 SUPER DUTY F-53 STRIPPED CHAS.
ISSUE:
Some vehicles may exhibit an erratic transmission 1-2 upshift or 2-1 downshift or may start out in 2nd gear. This may be caused by a vehicle speed signal from the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module that is contaminated with engine electrical noise from the engine wiring harness on the ground circuit. A vehicle speed input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may be noticed when using a New Generation Star (NGS) tester to monitor the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), even when the vehicle is not moving.
ACTION: Add a separate ground harness to improve PCM grounding.

ON A REGULAR VEHICLE OK... ON A 13,000+lb RV, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!! A VEHICLE MADE WITH ABS AND THEN TAKEN OFF OR DISCONNECTED WILL BRAKE DIFFERENT! ONE BRAKE WILL GRAB HARDER THAN THE OTHER (SHORTER DISTANCE WINS) FROM YOUR MC TO YOUR CALIPER!! OH YEAH, AND WHEN YOU GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, GUESS WHERE THEY ARE GOING FIRST WHEN THEY SEE SOLID SKID MARKS, AND WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE FOR "REMOVING IT" ???? AND FINALLY... WHATS WRONG WITH DRIVING AN RV ON ICE? I DID IT 3 TIMES LAST YEAR ALL IN THE SAME WEEK JUST TRYING TO GET HOME FROM FALL HARVEST IN NEBRASKA.... YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU'LL NEED IT AND ITS NOT LIKE YOU CAN JUST STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HOOK IT UP IF YOU COME ACROSS DANGEROUS ROADS... AND FWIW, ICE AINT THE ONLY THING, FRESH RAIN ON DROUGHT STRICKEN CITY STREETS IS WORSE THAN BLACK ICE WHEN IT PULLS ALL THE OILS OUT OF THE ASPHALT!
HORRIBLE RESPONSE THAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY PUT OTHER LIFE AT RISK OVER SUCH A SAFETY FEATURE!!

Chris, buddy, Don't scare people needlessly.
ABS Is a Transparent system.
There is no safety issue.
A vehicle (any vehicle) equiped with ABS, that is disabled,or otherwise not functioning, will drive like any vehicle that did not have ABS.
There is not yet a Brake by wire system available.
The Brake hydraulic system is very mechanical, and will function very well without any electronics applied.

I must agree with Kerry's assessment on the issue.

WOW! YOU SERIOUSLY THINK ITS A "TRANSPARENT SYSTEM" WITH "NO SAFETY ISSUE" you're on crack or somethin friend. It will drive the same... duh, but braking is not "driving" . If you think it has nothing to do with a safety issue, tell that to my little brother who lost control of his SUV doin 55 on a rainy highway, ABS was disabled by previous owner, brother was not notified prior to purchase... now he's no longer with us and the previous owner is doing 25 for "disruption of a federal mandated safety feature" and with it unintentional vehicular manslaughter, fortunately he was on his way to PICK UP his kids, not on his way home...
as for the brake by wire... ummmm what kind of brakes does a stock trailer or even a TT have? last i checked that was a "brake by wire"............................................. .........................................
disconnect the ABS... go ahead, everything will be fine...... i'm not scaring anyone, i'm stating facts! if you don't like facts then don't ask questions or atleast let everyone know ahead of time that you want the answer to the question by any means BUT the facts... i can hand those out all day...
Ya'll have a great day! Hope I'm not infront of you in a hazardous condition... then again it has nothing to do with safety and it will all be fine...
