Change oil about every 5,000 miles - grease (Amsoil grease) the the grease points at the same time. Use Amsoil 5W-30 (1999 chassis) and oil filters (my son is an Amsoil dealer). Also have Amsoil ATF in the transmission.

Change engine oil/filter every fall before the MH goes into hibernation for the winter (which is about every 5,000 miles).

Regretfully I changed over to synthetic oil too soon (about 6,000 miles). According to some should have waited for 10,000 miles to be more fully broken in. If the we "run" in hilly country the V10 uses some oil (varies).

Hi Gus, do you have the transmission oil changed each 25,000 mi as recommended, or do you have it changed at all?
We just got our RV last Nov. so it is all quite new to us, like in regards to our car the oil gets changed twice a year whether it need it or not.

We presently have 2 Fords, one F150, one Escape. We have been driving Fords since 1976 (Pinto). We have followed the manufacturers recommendations on both vehicles, including transmission fluid. 5,000 mile oil changes are more environmentally friendly. 3K is only recommended if you have "hard" driving conditions (i.e., lots of city driving, dusty/dirty conditions like the desert, etc.). Pay close attention to transmission service to insure the best service.

Phelpo, you might want to look at the Fumoto oil drain valve at http://www.fumotovalve.com/. You can buy one that has a nipple that one can attach a piece of tubing and direct that into a pan or jug. Have thought about buying one myself but have not done so yet.

Speaking of oil changes on the V-10, does anyone know if there is a specific torque spec for the oil pan drain plug? I'm always paranoid about under-tightening the plug upon replacement. (That's because I'm paranoid about over-tightening it!)

5W20 is what is reccomended by the manual for my 2001 F53 also. I put the pan on the front axel and steering damper. Sits very nicely there and does not let a windy day blow the oil over the edge of the pan due to the shorter distance.

Every year or 25,000 miles, whichever occurs first. I use AMSOIL and filters.
